Zane has truly outdone herself with "Total Eclipse of the Heart"! This story was a drastic change from Zane's usual, but I enjoyed it just the same! I'm glad the raunchy was turned down just a bit.Slightly overweight waitress Brooke Alexander is in a unfulfilled relationship with wealthy lawyer Patrick Sterling. Patrick's uppity wealthy parents feel that Brooke is beneath Patrick and let her know it whenever they can. Patrick is verbally abusive to Brooke at times and often complains about her weight. Brooke wants out but doesn't feel she has the finances or strength to leave.Damon Johnson is married to his wife of four years, Carleigh. Damon worships the ground Carleigh walks on and would never dream of hurting her. Carleigh on the other hand allows her friends to make inappropriate sexual remarks about Damon. Damon feels he is only "eye candy or a trophy husband" to Carleigh. Carleigh is not supportive of Damon's entrepreneurial efforts to launch his own dating websites.Damon and Brooke are two people who will be brought together unexpectedly and tragically, but their meeting seems to be fate, meant to be and a total eclipse of the heart is destined to occur. This book was a bonafide page turner and I was totally shocked at the end about Damon and Brooke!!
I've bought several books by Zane and I think this has to be the best written one. If you've read any of her previous books, you know that they are filled with erotic scenes throughout her books. This one is more of an actual story. Brooke is a waitress that is dating Patrick. Patrick comes from a very affluent family. He's very demanding and for some reason, Brooke seems to put up with it. Damon is married to Carleigh. He loves her with all his heart and soul...Carleigh appears to just love his looks. An unfortunate situation causes all of these characters lives to become intertwined. There are several themes to this book to include the fact that there still are good men out there. Another theme (maybe my own) is to never let your female friends hang around your man alone. Lastly, love knows no boundaries. There's a pleasant surprise at the end of the book that further supports the last theme. Zane doesn't dissapoint with the sex scenes...it's just not the basis of this particular book. If you are looking for a good descent read...get this book. You won't be disappointed.
WOW...i dont really write reviews unless i extremely detest the book or LLOOOVVVEEEEDDDD the book... i read the reviews and everyone said this was a must read Zane book, and that it was until a lot of her other books... BOY THEY WERENT LYING... I continued to read this book despite the fact that i have four papers to write for my ENGLISH class. There are no words that can tell you how much i enjoyed this book. What I loved most about this book is that Brooke and Damon were built up as characters with problems not has a characters built around race with problems.. It isnt until the very end of the book that everything comes together as far as race!!!LOOOVEED THE BOOK ZANE. I'll be waiting for your next one!
I just re-read this book after having it for almost a year and I have to say I really love it. This is so different from the other books that I have read from Zane. The theme of true love was just so prevalent throughout this book. The turn of events that happens in Damon's life is just so unexpected, but is really what makes this book stand out from the rest. Damon was so instrumental in helping Brooke realize her full potential. This is the type of character all men should posses. Well done Zane!
More than i bargained for. This was a good read. Read most of it in a day. More than sex, real life challenges and thought provoking.
I found this book pulled me in with the story and the characters. I may be a little biased because I was familiar with character's locations in the DMV (DC,MD,VA) area.The author did not what to tell the reader the races or the main two and it worked for this book if you ask me. This story was vivid without giving away too much about the two main character's appearances. I have read this book twice... its awesome for the pedicure chair or under the hair dryer.
I personally loved the book, I just couldnt seem to put it down. Now, I probably wouldnt recommend this book to someone who has not read a Zane book or any erotica for that matter, but all in all it was a good book.I loved how we got to be each character, how we got to see everything from both point of views. I believe this was a big part of the reason why I just could not put the book down, because everytime something extravagant would happen that chapter would end, and the next chapter would switch off to the other character...making you want to zoom through it so you can get back to the first character, but then THAT chapter would end with a bang...and this just turned into a never ending cycle..lolI love that theres a really good dramatic romantic story within the book, it's not just sex sex sex, you want to see the characters fall in love, you want to see them get married and have kids, but throughout the majority of the book your not even sure if it's going to happen, the suspence is awesome.The whole storyline is very unique, it's bittersweet...but with a happy ending. If you are already a Zane fan I HIGHLY reccomend it, you will absolutely fall in love with this book! :-)
This became one of my favorite books of all time!!!! I read it a few years back and never left a review. I love books that provide a message, and this message is needed, especially with what's going on today! Read and open your heart and mind.
