This textbook provides a good introduction to the platform, along with excellent descriptions of interfacing hardware that seem to be de-emphasized in today's textbooks. The book tells an interesting story, almost walking through the reader through the research process for, say, different memory types, complete with vendor reference sheets. Some of the hardware is no longer available but the information remains relevant and applicable. Excellent book! I'm buying the third edition also for my library.

I used this book in a beginning micrcomp design class, now it is one of the most important reference books in my library. The book is a quality primer to spark interest in a broad range of historic events but can also entertain as a stand-alone volume.

This book is a fascinating, comprehensive look at the history of our world and includes maps for easy reference. Anyone who wants to learn more about the events that shaped our world will find this book invaluable!

A pretty good read for the price. Attempts at humour through the articles tend to be more annoying than funny. Not a lot of early civilisation stuff but a reasonable mix for people to get a taste and then to explore further

As being a Daddy he wants to take care of this boy, for the first time in five years his heart is longing.Simon can’t understand why this beautiful straightforwardly lumberjack wants to take care of him, a invisible omega without the ability to slick.But when they start something together there are some delightful scenes. Hot, steamy and delicious.With Simon’s approaching heat Simon stands before some decisions and when these are taken from him he is devastated.This story, my goodness, I loved it. Art and Simon characters are so kind and flawed.Art being a Daddy with BDSM experience was a delicious addition and very well woven into this story. The joy Art gives Simon but also the hurt, was written in a strong and heartfelt way.Simon his longing and yearning went straight through my heart. Goshh it was emotional.Emotional in the way it made my heart hurt, wetness rolling down my cheeks.It was a good balanced written journey, all area with the right weight. The scenery was wonderful and the whole story original and intriguing. A beautiful bubble with a wonderful diversity of personalities, with books, friends, families, hurt, romance, some kink, red butt, about taking control and giving over, but above all about hope and deep rooted claiming love!I was glued to the pages I read this journey in one breath.

Omegas who can't slick are defective and taboo. Alphas will still take what he offers, but they aren't exactly courteous.What I like: I'm a fan of age difference, particularly guys in their twenties with guys in their forties. Enter hottie, Art, a red headed, flannel shirt wearing Daddy who frequents Simon's book mobile, and doesn't treat Simon like an inferior.What you need to know: The book is A/B/O and contains some of the societal politics of an A/B/O society. The book contains m-preg, and may be rough for someone with infertility to read, if infertility is triggering for you, please be advised.The main critique I have is that their relationship moves so fast. I understand falling into heat and A/B/O. It helps that Art has been interested for awhile, but even with certain emergency factors -- after Art's concerns about his past, he's jumping into a major decision very quickly.I think the characters need more page time to establish more chemistry early on. A few more dates, maybe.The chemistry does get decidedly more concrete and there is some sweet library nesting going on. Overall these two are total cuties, and I'm glad they get their hea. I'd definatly recommend this to anyone into m-preg, a/b/o, daddy kink, and shmoop.Additional note: Art's first partner was an Alpha to Omega trans person, the book has excellent transgender themes and characters for those looking for more transgender representation in their books.

If you're in the mood for some hot mpreg, knotting, heats, nesting, lots of emotional with angsty histories, you gotta give this story a try!This is the second book in the Nerds who Knot series, and although this one does stand well on its own, I think you'd enjoy it more if you read the first one since Isaac is in this one as well.Simon runs a bookmobile - a mobile library, that he drives around - often going to small towns that aren't on his route to get books out to kids that need them most. He yearns for children of his own, but his biology has left him unable for that to happen. On his route, he meets Art, an older alpha who lost his omega five years ago and hasn't fully moved on. The two experience a crazy hot hook up and then both realize that they want more, totally terrified that it's going to fall apart and leave them both even more miserable than they were before.I love the world building in this story, how omegas and alphas work, how Art's previous partner was a trans omega - I just love the thought taken into describing the "rules" to this world.There is plenty of emotion, Simon learning to trust Art, Art learning that he needs to be up front with things, and both of them realizing that they are totally perfect for each other. On their journey together, there is some crazy hot moments between the two of them, a bit of kink, some lovely daddy kink, and it's all just written very sexy and sensual. I loved it!Can't wait for the next book - hey, maybe that sexy alpha professor needs a story!I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Well, I'm hooked on Riordan's books, although I prefer the Greek/Roman world to the Egyptian and Norse series. It takes a writer of Riordan's skill to make me interested in following the adventures of Apollo as a human, since he's about the least admirable, most dislikable Olympian in my eyes. Anyway, I enjoyed this, which sets the stage for Apollo's redemption after getting tossed out on his ear, and sets up another new villain for Percy and hopefully, Jason, to join forces with the gods and Save The World - again!

I’m happy about the release of this book, back to Camp Half Blood, and I admit the trip into Norse mythology was fun for a bit, but I’ve grown quite fond of our past protagonists and it was nice to have them back. One thing I would recommend, this book could be read on its own, without reading the others that have come before it, but I wouldn’t. There are some brief summaries of Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter, but it talks about the outcome of those events. Also, the book takes place at the start of Riordian’s last book Magnus Chase, and you know that based on what Annabeth is doing, she’s in Boston.The book has Percy for a bit in it, but then it is primarily focused on Apollo and a new demi-god Meg. Like many of Riordian’s past books, the origins of Meg are a bit of a mystery. Uh, I really have to say, there are some hysterical reference in the book that are not entirely based on the knowledge of children in the normal YA range. Shout-out to a Rocky Horror mention! Anyway, the book is enjoyable to read as all the others and is quick.Apollo is on earth as a mortal, the oracles have stopped prophesizing and there are a lot of tie-in’s to other stories that will emerge in the future, in particular Leo. I was worried that Apollo would annoy me, but his arrogance is amusing, and he has some pretty interesting narratives on his fatherhood, especially being proud of his children’s vanity. As a condition of his time on earth he must serve a demi-God, which is an enjoyable paring to read about and the character of Meg is unique and very strong. There’s still more to learn about her background though, which I am excited for in the future.I don’t want to give too much away, but the new threat is a bit different from the past and pertains to historical figures, not simply the Gods and Goddesses in the traditional sense. The entire story is told from Apollo’s perspective and it’s kind of nice to have on-going pop-culture references, even as recent as Alabama Shakes.I highly recommend it! However, wait to read this after you’ve read the other Percy Jackson books!

I am a fan of Riordan. I enjoy how he takes ancient mythology and relates it to the modern world in a way that intrigues young and older minds alike and inspires kids to learn more about ancient histories and civilizations. This first book of the new Apollo series was much anticipated by both myself and my son (age 12). That anticipation may have been a disservice, however, as the story did not quite meet the high expectations. While the Percy Jackson and the subsequent books brought the reader into this mythological cross-section with relatable characters, Apollo falls short of establishing this relationship. He is frequently far too depressed and, for lack of a better description, whines too much in self pity. While I realize this is an internal struggle for Apollo, it is not so dissimilar to the feelings of inadequacy Percy often felt, yet because of better development, the reader was drawn into Percy's feelings rather than just being annoyed by them. It is never a good thing for the reader to find your main character annoying. I did finish the book and I am hoping Apollo's inner whine struggle will abate, or at least be relatable n the future installments. My son did not finish the book. And that is saying something, as he is an avid reader and huge fan. He easily reads two books a week and loves all the Percy Jackson, Olympian, Roman, Egyptian and Nordic books by Riordan. He was greatly disappointed and would probably disagree with my giving the book three stars. However, I stand by the three stars, admitting this is not Riordan's best work, but the research is excellent, the plot moves sufficiently, he did create characters I care about and he did provide adequate conflict, even if the resolutions were sometimes over simplified. It is an okay read if you are patient enough to get past Apollo being a little too Apollo. I do hope the next book is better, but this one does not leave me in a rush to pre-order it.

This is one of the best books I have read. It was great that Rick kept Apollos arrogance but still made him realize that he had faults. I'm going to be real here and say that I was in tears on multiple occasions.It was also great that he decided to let people like Leo and Calypso have the spot light instead of Percy and Annabeth. I was laughing so hard and some parts, I almost fell off the chair I was sitting on.This is a book that you are going to want to read and will keep you on the edge of your toes waiting for the next one.
